My Pledge:
I pledge to deliver skillful, safe, compassionate care to all pets entrusted to my supervision
and will place their welfare above all other business considerations.
I pledge to continually improve my knowledge of the grooming profession by participating in
annual educational opportunities.
I pledge to deal honestly, fairly and respectfully with all clients, human and canine.
~Lisa Vogt
I incorporate the techniques learned from Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer, by being calm yet assertive.
I do not discipline your dog, this is not my job and is not what you are paying me to do. For fearful or active dogs on the
grooming table, I utilize many different tactics to re-focus their attention such as singing, whistling, tickling, etc.
It's difficult for them to think of two things at once and by re-directing their attention I am able to accomplish the task
at hand. I ignore or gently reprimand negative behavior but praise positive behavior and in this way train the dog
to understand what I'm asking of them (which is primarily just to stand still).
In this respect I am a dog trainer, training the dog to endure and possibly even enjoy the
grooming process. For especially active or fearful dogs I use The Groomer's Helper to humanely
restrain them on the table. To learn more visit their site at http://www.groomershelper.com

About Me:
I have been rescuing and grooming dogs all my life but began my professional training in 2000 with the purchase of my
first Shih Tzu, Domino. I have been a professional dog bather, bathing up to 30 dogs a day in a large grooming
establishment. One thing's for sure, I know how to get a dog clean! A good groom starts with a thorough bath.
I would like to thank my grooming instructors Mary, Shannon and Kelly for sharing their knowledge and for their patience. I
have also enjoyed annual continuing education courses which have taught me so much about canine health, skin & coat, breed
standards and proper grooming techniques.
I graduated from the University of Georgia in 1992 with a B.S.Ed. degree in Natural Resource Management. I've worked
for the federal government with the Youth Conservation Corps, National Wildlife Service and the U.S. Forest
Service for many years. I have bottle-fed and raised numerous domestic pets as well as wildlife and am actualy a
licensed wildlife rehabilitator with the Department of Natural Resources. My hobbies include kayaking, gardening
and bird watching but dogs are my passion!
